One of the adventures and experiences of the Hohe Tauern is the history of gold in the Tauern Rauris valley.

Rauris, was once the stronghold of European gold mining in the 14/15 century, where 12% of world gold production (with 2000 two thousand miners were at Goldberg won).

Another worthwhile excursion is to the free-flying vultures and eagles in Krumeltal , also in Rauris. The once extinct Bearded vultures were naturalized in 1986 in a project again.

A truly unique experience is the search for gold in the sky circling vultures.
