The entire area of the Hohe Tauern is impressive, but very few highlights stand out and are worth a visit. Rauris is part of the Hohe Tauern and large sections in Rauris were declared as core zone

Rauris, was once the stronghold of European gold mining in the 14/15 century, where 12% of world gold production (with 2000 two thousand miners were at Goldberg won).

Another worthwhile excursion is to the free-flying vultures and eagles in Krumeltal , also in Rauris. The once extinct Bearded vultures were naturalized in 1986 in a project again.
A truly unique experience is the search for gold in the sky circling vultures.
