Never forget ..... Part 2
... in the sweltering heat (35 degrees in the shade) I have started my first raw wool-washing experiment .......
has helped me here these instructions to me as Annette comment link to my first post had sent ....
And I've also done it then .....
- warm (tap) water in a baby tub ... I have something bigger (yet) ... (but is on ebay at work ;-))
- 3 tablespoons of washing soda to 30 liters
- 3 times with clean water rinse
the first attempt I've made (despite the "warning" in your ...) still too much wool at once - and I thought that it was little ... . it goes, but not nearly as good as the second try ... look at this:
Here (above) has the (really short) wool in very good water can spread and broke up everything good from the fibers ....
I found the way not so bad that I would call it a "disgusting broth" ... the water was just a little dirty yellowish .... Containing dirt ... but not bad, disgusting or stinky smell ..... and after washing the wool less "schafig" as so many who I have been ordered !!!!!
When comparing two images, one can clearly see in the photo above, that much more dirt particles are left in the wool, because wool does not grow well in the water could spread ..... The second test, by contrast almost no dirt is left in the wool. See for yourself!
Here is a comparison:
the upper (yellow) is the unwashed wool raw wool. To the left you see the washed wool and right I have carded her. In the picture with the card, you can see how beautiful long the individual wool fibers.
And here again the carded wool (only the wool from the second washing experiment!)
Well .... and then I could not resist, of course ... and I have a small initial attempt spun it quite simple .... looks like this .... it is not super soft but also not very scratchy .... somehow in the middle ... could be spun well and I had wonderful soft hands afterwards ;-)
This was therefore the first test :-)
In front of me a giant mountain of unwashed wool .... Next, I will the dark wool of Jackie, the sheep take in attack ...
for the video-summer feeling the way I have placed a little summery music (please turn your speakers ;-))
continued !!!!!
